He was broke all the time . Are you kidding where were would he get the money to build even 1/200th of that stuff.

Also, in his lifetime, technology was not advanced as it is now. So, some ideas he had could not be built until society and science caught up.

Da Vinci designed hundreds of machines whose production was well beyond the ability of the artisans and engineers of his era. His design for a helicopter was inspired but he lacked the power souce, ie, the engine and the light metals need to build such a craft.

Many of his machines have actually been built and they all work. They are displayed in mueseums and recently toured the world.

I think of his designs for higher machines as a wish list. He knew they would not be built in his time. But he knew that one day mankind would have the scientic knowledge to make his dreams come true so he left his designs to prosterity as inspirations.

Because technology wasn't as good as it was today and because he wasn't one of the richest people you would meet back then

That makes no sense so.....

Basically because there wasn't the right technology and raw materials to manufacture a full scale working model...there is a chance he made a prototype and then destroyed it.
