). Zatoichi: On the Road is the fifth episode in the 26 part film series devoted to the character of Zatoichi.

Plot

In this installment of the series, the Doyama gang is attempting to persuade Ichi to align himself with them in the coming fight with their rivals. Ichi decides to meet with the boss of the Doyama gang, but on the way he is attacked causing him to become sidetracked from the task. He comes upon a man while traversing through the woods, who in his last breath, asks that Ichi protect a girl named Mitsu. Ichi cannot refuse the request, Mitsu having recently spurred the anger of the Doyama gang, and now Ichi on constant alert from the gang's rivals, he is inevitably caught in the middle.
