Zarrani tribe is one of the native Baluchi tribes living for centuries in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchistan.

They are known as Zarrani after the name of their progenitor Zarra Han. They once lived in the town of Koruk in the Iran

ian tribal ministate of Bahu Kalat. The relics of the fort of Mir Gul Muhammad Khan Zarrani at Koruk still bear witness to this fact. But endless tribal conflicts and drought coerced this tribe to move out in search of victuals.

The most famous personalities of this tribe are as follows:

Waidad s/o Haibatan is the first Zarrani that people know properly about though Zarra Han is doubtlessly the man from whom all Zarranis claim their descent. He was a landlord and owned the famous date-palm orchard of Waidad-e-Machi that still is there despite passage of almost two centuries albeit with no trees left for us to see.

Hayat s/o Waidad lived in Bahu and owned his lands there. He had two children Chakar Khan who later moved to Karachi after his father's death and Mahnaz his only daughter.

Chakar Khan s/o Hayat (born circa 1830 and died around 1910) was the first Zarrani to come to Sindh from his native land in Iran. He was a landlord and owned the renowned mango orchard of Malir Tahar Mah which means the dark moonlight for the mango trees were so thick that moonlight could hardly reach the ground below.

Haji Dad Rahim s/o Chakar (born circa 1890 and died on June 7, 1994) who was a prominent landlord of Malir.
The prominent living Zarranis are:
'Bashir Ahmed Baloch (born on March 2, 1955) is a landlord in Malir. His pursuits include compering Baluchi gatherings and he is a well-known social activist.

Mir Shaukat Ali Baloch (born January 18, 1977) is also a landlord and is the serving managing director of Messrs Ghulam Ali Associates. His pastimes include playing and watching soccer. He lives in Portugal with his brothers.

Dr. Abdul Khaliq Baloch (born March 2, 1971) is a general practitioner with special interest in diabetelogy. His pursuits include reading books of various sorts and watching documentaries on television. He is registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council with the membership number 33448-S.
