In 1945 the village had a population of 2,620. However, 240 inhabitants were Jewish. The village had two elementary schools: an elementary school for boys which was founded in 1924, and in 1945 it had an enrollment of 252 boys; and one for girls which was founded in 1943, and in 1945 it had an enrollment of 45 girls.
