Minor Hockey

Dalpe grew up playing minor hockey in his hometown of Paris, Ontario for the Paris Wolfpack of the OMHA's Southern Counties League. Later in his career, he elevated to the Brantford 99'ers AAA club playing in the Pavillion League in western Ontario. In 2004-05, Dalpe played AAA Minor Midget for the 99'ers, however, was undrafted in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection.

Listed in his OHL draft year at just 5'5" tall and 115 lbs., Dalpe was undrafted in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection and returned to play AAA Major Midget in 2005-06 and led his team to a solid season.

Junior Hockey

After playing Major Midget, Dalpe signed with the OHA's Stratford Cullitons Jr.B. club of the Midwestern Ontario League for 2006-07. The following year, Dalpe headed to western Canada and signed with the BCJHL's Penticton Vees Jr.A. club in 2007-08.

After that season, Dalpe was finally drafted by an OHL team in 2nd round (26th overall) of the 2008 OHL Priority Draft by the Plymouth Whalers. Dalpe, however, chose not to sign with Plymouth and decided to accept an NCAA scholarship at Ohio State for the 2008-09 campaign.

NCAA Hockey

Dalpe played just two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes (CCHA) before decided to sign an entry level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.
