 comes from the name of the lake with the same name located nearby, meaning "The Sacred Lake".

It is an agricultural center with developed cattle breeding.

There are two middle-grade schools, a gymnasium, a music school, and a sport school in the village, as well as the literary-artistic museum-reserve "Tatta".

On May 20, 2007 the village experienced a flood, with 873 houses being submerged under water. More than 3,000 people had to be evacuated.
