The bird seems to favor semi-desert areas with thick patches of scrub on rocky hill sides, scattered trees in savannah type areas. It also prefers highlands rather than low lands.
This bird is known as old specimens because it is believed to be dated back to the 19th century. It was originally found in a province named Shoa in eastern Ethiopia. I
