Specializing in semi-trailer rental and leasing, XTRA Lease LLC is owned by the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies headed by investor Warren Buffett. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, XTRA Lease is one of the largest over-the-road trailer rental and leasing companies in North America. Formed in 1992 through the merger of Strick Lease and AJF Leasing, XTRA Lease has approximately 70 branch locations throughout the United States and Eastern Canada, and employs nearly 500 people. XTRA Lease manages a fleet of approximately 90,000 semi-trailers, including variable length dry vans, flatbeds, reefers, chassis, storage trailers and other specialty semi-trailer equipment. XTRA Lease currently rents trailers and leases semi-trailer equipment to credit-approved commercial organizations including truckload carriers, dedicated and third-party logistics operations, private fleets/shippers, local trucking firms, warehousing and storage companies and more.
XTRA Lease also serves the independent trucking sector including owner operators, Class 8 drivers and others, selling pre-owned trailer equipment from the XTRA Lease rental fleet at each of their 70+ branches.
The Canadian division of XTRA Lease, XTRA Canada, has three locations within the province of Ontario, residing in Toronto, Kitchener and Concord. XTRA Canada also has one location in Moncton, New Brunswick. Neighboring Atlantic Canadian provinces such as Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Foundland and others are also served by XTRA Canada. Canada’s western-most provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Manitoba) are served by U.S. XTRA Lease locations in neighboring U.S. cities/states including Seattle, WA, Detroit, MI, Green Bay, WI and others.
