Workopolis is a Canadian website offering online career solutions: allowing employers to post jobs and candidates to post resumes in order to connect online. Workopolis also offers career management tools and advice and draws an audience of roughly three million visitors a month. Headquartered in Toronto, Workopolis has offices in eight Canadian cities, including Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver and provides its services in both English and French.

History

Formerly globecareers.com, workopolis.com was launched in January 2000, and consistently ranks as one of Canada's top 50 most trafficked websites, and the most popular employment-related site.

Workopolis launched its French version http://francais.workopolis.com/ in September 2001. That same year, Workopolis also added online campus

 recruitment services with the purchase of campusworklink.com in August 2001. In January 2002, campusworklink.com was migrated to Workopolis technology and in May 2002 was rebranded as workopolisCampus.com http://www.workopolisCampus.com.

In 2005, BackCheck http://www.backcheck.net partnered with Workopolis to offer employers a background checking service that includes criminal background checks, employment reference checks and education verifications.

Workopolis launched Workpolis TV in partnership with Business News Network

The Workopolis NicheNetwork http://niche.workopolis.com (formerly Brainhunter), a niche job board business is the latest addition (2008) to the Workopolis family which already includes WorkopolisCampus, CorporateWorks, and Workopolis.com.

 version of the site was launched in November 2008 which gives access to a reduced feature set over a mobile phone. The mobile service is available in two languages: English http://mobile.workopolis.com and French http://mobile.workopolis.com/FR/.

In 2010 Workopolis redesigned its website and introducing a new brand and strategy. The tagline for this new Workopolis: Time to shine. SHINE being the company’s brand personality reportedly standing for smart/ simplicity, happy/ human, innovative, nimble and experience. Workopolis also in 2010 introduced The Employer Brand Optimizer http://www.workopolis.com/EN/Common/recruiter/employer-branding.aspx to the recruiting market, leveraging their online recruitment experience to help companies with their employer branding.

For candidates the new Workopolis features a new job search engine, candidate branding options, an interactive career advice blog http://blog.workopolis.com/en and a heavy foray into social media including an online petition started on Facebook for an official national day to telecommute (National Work From Home Day.)

The purpose of www.workopolis.com is to provide online tools for candidates and employers to connect with each other. Most services are free to job seekers and paid for by employers and advertisers.
