The Wollongong Mustangs are a gridiron football
team. Before the start of the 2009 season the team ran into Financial difficulties and decide not to compete in the 2009 season club. They returned in 2010 along with a team in the Colts Division.
In May of 2011 the Wollongong Brumbies (The Mustangs' under 18 team) won the State Championship, Marking the first time that a Wollongong team has won a Gridiron Championship.
