The Rams are the athletic mascot of the school, and the homecoming parade is traditionally down the main street, Lincoln Ave., of the Willow Glen district of San Jose. The school is adjacent to Willow Glen Middle School, from which most students arrive after graduating. The school teaches students from grades 9-12. In the class entering in 1982, and earlier, the school covered grades 10-12. Willow Glen High School offers many extra curricular activities including football, baseball, tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, water polo, track and field, and cross country. Willow Glen High School has a swimming pool, 2 gyms, 2 baseball fields, a track/football/soccer field, a sand volleyball court, and basketball courts. The school currently has 1658 students enrolled. Similar to Leland High School, Willow Glen High School will also be receiving a solar power structure to save money and to be beneficial to the environment. Willow Glen High School Boys Volleyball won a CCS championship in 2009, one of the first public schools to do so in that CCS division.
