Wholesale Real Estate
Encyclopedia
Wholesale real estate Most homes are purchased by individuals who go through a local real estate agent. A smaller percentage purchase a home that is offered for sale by the homeowner, without intervention of an agent.

A growing category is homes purchased from a wholesale home-seller. (This is not to be confused with wholesale companies that sell manufactured homes.

The sources of wholesale homes typically come in one of two categories: banks and lenders who are selling homes that they have been forced to foreclose on, and thus are selling below replacement cost, and investors that buy or finance bulk purchases of homes to get greater discounts, which they then pass along to their customers.
