The 2008–09 season was Wellington Phoenix's second season of football (soccer) in the A-League.

, the Phoenix lost on penalties 8-7. Although the Phoenix had a chance to qualify for the finals on the last day of the season, it finished 6th on 26 points. Two out of the finals, and tied with Sydney FC
