Walter de la Wyle was the Bishop of Salisbury
from 1263 to 1271. He was also a subcentor of Salisbury. Walter de la Wyle's is most famous for founding the St. Edmund's College
and creating a new parish of St. Edmund's to serve the growing population of Salisbury. The College was also meant to help support the growing university at Salisbury.
