History

WXRL signed on in 1965 as WMMJ. The station had been founded by Stan Jasinski. When Jasinski shifted his focus to television and started up WUTV

 in 1970, he sold the radio station to Schriver, who has owned it ever since.

The station has developed a comparatively small but very loyal audience. That, plus the use of paid local sports programming, has kept the station afloat.

In addition to Ramblin' Lou, who has been an on-air personality since he bought the station, local hosts include Scott Cleveland, Wayne Stone and Lynn Carol Schriver.
