History

From its inception in 1988 until 2001, WWHR-FM was known as New Rock 92 broadcasting off the top of residence hall Peace-Ford Tower. The general manager was Bart White, an associate professor of broadcasting at the university. In 2001, new broadcasting instructor Marjorie Yambor became the general manager, and New Rock 92 became Revolution 91.7, the name by which is still goes today. Along with the name change came a new tower and a boost in power, from 100 watts to 1,000 watts, expanding the station's broadcast radius from four miles to about thirty miles (a 3,000 watt equivalence).

Each year, Revolution 91.7 brings two charity music festivals to Bowling Green. Revfest in the fall, and Mayhem in the Spring.

On October 11, 2011, Revolution 91.7 served as the 2011 Kentucky state headquarters for College Radio Day.
