History

101.5 FM first signed on the air as WWPB-FM in 1948, as a B-EZ

 station. The station was owned and operated by Paul Brake for more than twenty years.

In 1969, Sudbrink Broadcasting assumed ownership of the station. The call letters were changed to WLYF (known by the moniker "Life" for many years until the current "Lite FM" name was adopted) and, later that year, Sudbrink Broadcasting relocated to the WLBW

 television tower and increased their signal strength to 100,000 watts. The station became the nation's first FM radio station to achieve a number one audience rating.

In 1977, the station was sold to Storer Broadcasting. Two years later, in 1979, it was purchased by Jefferson-Pilot Communications (now the Lincoln Financial Group). The studio was moved to NW Second Avenue in North Dade, near what is now Landshark Stadium.

WLYF, now known as 101.5 LITE FM, has since evolved from an Easy Listening
