. WEAW broadcast general popular music, local talk shows and brokered ethnic and religious programs. The call sign was changed to WPRZ around 1979. WPRZ tried to find an audience as an adult contemporary station with some brokered programming on weekends. The attempt was not successful, and the station went silent after about two years. The station returned to the air as WEAW again, then took another try at adult contemporary as WSSY ("Sunny 1330") in the late 1980s.

In 1989, WSSY changed its call letters to WKTA, and began to program a hard rock and heavy metal format as "G-Force 1330." Later, G-Force would emerge into a new format known as "Rebel Radio" under G-Force alumni Scott Davidson. WKTA would became a flagship station for the hard rock network, which was syndicated to other stations in the midwest. Rebel Radio continues to air on WKTA Sundays.
