History

The station started as WGBK in 1968 with an Adult Contemporary format, branded as "Jesse 104.3".

On September 15, 1980, WGBK switched its callsign to WJSY and continued to carry the Adult Contemporary format.

format, branded as "104.3 Country KCY". Mid-Atlantic sold WKCY-FM/AM to Clear Channel in 2000. From 1990 until late 2006 or early 2007, WKCY-FM used the slogan "Today's Country and Your All Time Favorites" before changing to "The Valley's Country Station". WKCY-FM/AM's studios are on University Blvd. near the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg.
