History

WDRK was initially licensed to Lawrence Busse. Central Communications purchased the license from Busse in 2001. WDRK started with an 80's music format when it signed-on in mid-August 2001, then officially debuted itself on August 20, 2001, as "99.9 The Carp" with a new rock format.

WDRK and sister stations WAXX-FM, WAYY-AM WIAL-FM, WEAQ-AM & WECL-FM were sold to Maverick Media, LLC in 2003.

WDRK began broadcasting live 24 hours a day on the Internet in April, 2006. The station's URL changed from 999thecarponline.com to thecarprocks.com in 2006.

The station switched to all Christmas (Seasonal) Music format on August 1, 2009.

August 4, 2009 The station is replaced by "Bob 99.9". The format is now adult hits.

The following is a press release from Maverick Media on August 3, 2009:
'Eau Claire (Press Release) - Introducing a new Eau Claire radio station from Maverick Media: BOB FM 99.9, the Chippewa Valley's new radio station which will launch Tuesday, August 4. BOB FM 99.9 plays everything!!

Meet Bob, a friendly, relaxed, regular kind of guy. He's got a bunch of CDs, Tapes, Albums, and the odd 8-tracks from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and......whatever - and he's not afraid to play ‘em! BOB FM 99.9 has a huge musical library with little repetition. BOB FM 99.9 is musically centered in rock/pop hits, but plays some country, dance, anything; the most variety of any radio station, ever. The one thing for sure is that you never know what you are going to hear next!

BOB FM 99.9 is a different kind of radio station: no disc jockeys, no games, and no contests. Bob just plays lots and lots of great music! BOB FM 99.9 is "the non-radio radio station." There has never been anything like it in our area. Bob doesn't get out much, BUT, Bob's listeners will get to know him through the radio and soon through Bob's Blogs and more on his Web site at www.bobfm999.com. BOB FM 99.9 is humorous and real, surprising listeners with fun and highly creative execution....and again, lots of music.

BOB FM 99.9 is designed for listeners that are unfulfilled by other stations. The ones that like all kinds of music and love variety!

The format is thriving throughout North America and is, in radio terms, known as an Adult Hits station.
