 WRVI on March 15, 1982. On October 5, 1992, the station changed its call sign to the current WCVS. The station has recently flipped format to active rock, going by the name The Rock @ 96-7.

In January 2008, former top rated Morning Disaster host Ray Lytle went to mornings with The Ray Lytle Show on The Rock. Lytle was top rated while on WQLZ
