As of late 2006, WBPN has applied for a license for a digital low-power station on digital channel 23 in the Binghamton area. This would presumably carry the MNTV affiliate on its own digital channel rather than a subchannel of WICZ. The construction permit for channel 23 was granted on August 25, 2008, with the new call sign being WBPN-LD. It is currently off the air.
