Plot summary

The novel depicts the narrator's childhood and adolescence personaju, especially moments spent by him at school.
Narrator character finish primary school in his native village, finishing among the top.Then he tried to enroll at a school in Campu-Lung, but was rejected because of eye care visit. Together with his father's character, the narrator goes to Mirosi where he meets a false librarian claiming 1,000 lei to enroll him in a school.However, the librarian advised for admission to a school boy called "arts and crafts", which fails to take an average too high. The teenager is enrolled in a school in Blaj where he high school two years.From here because of the war is transferred to a school in Bucharest. Marin's father refuses to pay her school fees in Bucharest but he manages to get admitted. At this school he doesn't go to classes more than a year because the school is demolished by the quake. Marin remains in Bucharest where his brother Nila works as a guard in a building.He decides not to go to school because there is no tax money and wants to take a job to be able to pay exams at a private school.Eventually he finds a job with the railroad, but this does not last long. When he comes back learns that his brother Nila went into the army and he let his room to him. No longer having the money, Marin is committed to a newspaper and then to a printer and manages money from wages to rent a better camera. With a group of friends will publish his first book of short stories and get a vacation of several months to Sinaia where he should write a novel, but had no inspiration. However, after becoming editor of Viaţa Românească, he takes a long vacation and returns to Sinaia where he writes Moromeţii
