. Vernal Middle School has been completely remodeled at a cost of approximately thirty million dollars. The bid for a completely new structure was 25 million, five million less than the remodeling. During the remodeling, sixth grade students were bused to the new Naples Elementary School and seventh grade students to the Vernal Junior High School Annex.

VMS opened on Monday March 2, 2009 for the 7th grade and opened at the beginning of the school year (2008-2009)for 6th graders.

It finished construction in 2009 and has around 980 students and teachers
