The film was produced by Madhavan Nair under the banner of Murali Films. Mammootty appears in three different getups in the film. He dons the period costumes, wearing khakki trousers and tall cap, which will be the highlight of the film. Vijaya Raghavan, Jagathy, Salim Kumar, Suraj, Sreeraman, Kalabhhavan Shajon, Rajan Padoor form the supporting cast.

Shooting commenced in August 2011, and the film was mostly shot from Alappuzha

The film was scheduled to release on 4 November 2011, but was postponed to 11 November 2011 since there was a delay in the post production work of the film. Then also film postponed to 23 December 2011 due to film strike in Kerala and some other problems.

. The film will have a remix of the song "Kannum Kannum" from the film Angadi. Mammootty explains that it was the desire of the director Shafi to use a super hit song of the eighties in a dream scene of the film. And later they zeroed in on the song than going on for a heavy beat track.
