. According to the historian Ram Lal Hala, the word Jat is derived from word 'Yat'. The king 'Yat'(Ushana) was in Chandravanshi, an ancestor of Lord Krishna. The Jats are descendants of King Yat. 'Yat' later changed to 'Jat'.
