and one terminated at the Savacentre and then returned to Hatfield. The 602 used to interwork with the route 632 which ran straight from Hatfield Business Park to College Lane and then non-stop to London Colney via the A414 dual carriageway. One bus went from Hatfield to Watford on the 602 service then returned as a 632 bus, avoiding St Albans, and vice versa. However in the interests of keeping services consistent, the 602 was changed so that all daytime services followed the same route. A new route was made to serve people wishing to go to Borehamwood..The route was originally launched in November 1992 when Universitybus started commercial service operations but it was based on the P2 private only service run for staff and students from Hatfield to the Wall Hall Campus of the University in Aldenham Village. Quite quickly the route was extended at either end to run through to Watford via Bushey and from Hatfied to Welwyn Garden City. The service also subsumed the old 311 route which hailed back to London Country days and thus ran from Watford through Bushey, on to Aldenham Village (and Wall Hall Campus), Radlett, Shenley, and London Colney

where instead of terminating as did the old 311 it travelled on to St Albans and along the Hatfield Road to Hatfield and eventually to Welwyn Garden City. At one point the service operated a 20 minute frequency along the whole line of route but eventually in the early 2000s the extension to Welwyn Garden City was dropped with the buses terminating at the new depot in the Hatfield Business Park. The journeys to Welwyn Garden City were replaced by a new route the 603 which runs a small overlapping section with the 602 in Hatfield before running on to Welwyn Garden City. The 602 service settled into the arrangements described at the beginning of this section although very recently some evening only journeys have been re-introduced to Welwyn Garden City.

Vehicles

Stopping the 602 interworking with the 632 meant that vehicles with specific route 602 branding could be used. These are Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses which all have the same information on the side (the destinations of the route), but on the back are potential uses of the bus. These include items such as:
