Construction began in 1890 and the first services were held in the not quite completed structure on September 11, 1892. The church was built on land donated by the founder of Avon Park, Oliver Martin Crosby and his wife. Later the original crenellated bell tower

Union Congregational Church is still an active grace filled congregation. The church property extends through to North Butler Avenue and the congreation now uses 106 North Butler Avenue as its address. Bill Breylinger has been the senior pastor for over 20 years. Union is a place "Where You Matter To God." When a hand reaches out for help, the hand of Christ should be there to help, for this we are responsible.
