UBM Aviation is a business providing data, analytics, consulting, media and event services to the air transport industry, principally the passenger aviation, air cargo logistics, maintenance repair & overhaul (MRO) and business travel sectors. Its brands include OAG, OAG Cargo, Routes, ASM, UBM Aviation Events and UBM Aviation Media.
The company operates worldwide from offices in the UK, USA, Singapore, China, Japan and The Netherlands. It is owned by UBM plc.

History

UBM Aviation was created in December 2008 when its parent, UBM, reorganised all of its airline-related businesses into one company .
The Company has evolved through a number of acquisitions, beginning with BACK Aviation Solutions and Air Cargo World acquired by UBM in mid-2006 ; OAG in December 2006 ; Aviation Industry Group in January 2007 ; AeroStrategy's MRO data business in 2008 ; and The Route Development Group and Airport Strategy & Marketing (ASM) in August 2010 .

The history of UBM Aviation’s brands and products for the travel and transportation industries can be traced back to the mid-nineteenth century. In 1853 the first ABC Alphabetical Railway Guide was published in the UK. The Company’s first aviation product, and the origin of its most established brand, was the Official Aviation Guide of the Airways. Operations

The Company operates in four primary areas: airline schedule networks, airports, aircraft fleets and cargo. It distributes data, news and information and also offers analytics and consulting services to customers. It organises in the region of 25 peripatetic events internationally throughout the year.

Data

The Company, through its OAG business, participated in the development of the IATA Standard Schedules Information Manual (SSIM) for the interchange of airline schedules data. This was established in 1972 and is still the primary source of protocols and formats for the global airline industry.
The Company provides data products and services for the passenger aviation, air cargo and business travel sectors. It aggregates and distributes flight schedule, flight status, fleet and MRO (maintenance, repair & overhaul) data on a worldwide basis. Its proprietary OAG schedules database contains future and historical flight details on more than 1,000 airlines and over 4,000 airports. This aggregated data feeds the world’s global distribution systems and travel portals, and drives the internal systems of many airlines, air traffic control systems, aircraft manufacturers, airport planners and government agencies around the world. Its OAG fleet database contains information and transaction details about every commercial aircraft built since 1940, including those that have been decommissioned, are in storage or on order. Separate databases on cargo schedules, air freight rates, dangerous goods regulations and other information generate products and services for the global air cargo, freight forwarding and logistics industries.

Analytics

OAG utilizes its proprietary databases to provide market intelligence on airline seat capacity and flight schedules, aircraft fleets, traffic demand, financial and operating performance, and MRO (maintenance, repair & overhaul) forecasting.

Consulting Services

The Company provides a range of consulting services for air service development, network audits, airport marketing, airport investment and aircraft manufacturing. These services are provided worldwide by its ASM (Airport Strategy & Marketing) business. ASM received the Best Airport Consultancy award from the Airport Operators Association (AOA) in 2010 .

Events

The Company’s events portfolio includes the Route Development Forum for airlines, airports, suppliers and industry observers to develop and manage aviation route networks. This is a series of annual events comprising World Routes plus five regional events in Europe, Americas, Asia, Africa and CIS. Airports and airlines have access to an online portal where they can share information and intelligence such as facilities, traffic statistics, air services, demographics and supporting resources. This portal also provides a platform for airports to bid directly for airline capacity.
The Company organises three annual exhibitions with associated conferences for the fleet and MRO sectors: Airline Purchasing & Maintenance Expo, Aero-Engine Expo (London, UK) and Aircraft Maintenance Expo USA.
In addition, the Company organises between 12 and 15 specialist conferences every year, principally for the MRO, fleet, financing and leasing sectors. The international conference program includes a number of regional events which are endorsed by airline trade associations AAPA
