Tomakivskyi Raion is a raion of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, southeastern-central Ukraine. Its administrative centre is located at Tomakivka....

 of Dnipropetrovsk region.

It is set on confluence of Tomakivka and Kyslichuvata rivers.

Population is about 8,000.

History

A Cossack host or Cossack viysko was an administrative subdivision of Cossacks in Imperial Russia...

 (also see Zaporozhian Cossacks). First constant settlement was established there at 1552 under name "Ukhod Tomakivka". The town of Tomakivka has direct root from cossack's host on Tomakivka island. After destroying Ukrainian cossack state Zaporizka Sich all cossack's villages were more populated. At 1777 cossack's village Tomakivka was granted State sloboda status.
