Tromsø

During his first year as he was meant as a replacement for Patrice Bernier at the central midfield, but has impressed in the right back position. He has both shown potential and awareness unlike most in his age group or position in all of Norway. This is the main reason he was picked for the national team at the end of 2008, and in 2009, by Egil "Drillo" Olsen.

Høgli was named Tromsø IL player of the year for the season of 2008 by the supporters and earned the nickname "Super Tom". A nickname he got while playing in Bodø/Glimt.

On May 29, 2011, he scored his first goal for Tromsø in a 4-0 victory against SK Brann.

Club Brugge

On June 18, 2011, Høgli signed a contract with Belgian Pro League powerhouse Club Brugge.
