With an estimated area of 438.6 square kilometers, Tole has an estimated population density of 141.9 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 152.8.

The 1994 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 44,932, of whom 22,719 were men and 22,213 women; 1,273 or 2.83% of its population were urban dwellers at the time. The two largest ethnic groups reported in Tole were the Oromo
