Early life

Very shy as a child, Hobley was sent to speech and drama classes in an attempt to counter her introversion. Hobley enrolled with a very strict speech and drama teacher, whom she adored and stayed with for fifteen years, before moving from there to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art

Personal life

Hobley's first marriage was to graphic designer Steve Wallington in 1998. Their daughter Isabella 'Bella' was born in April 1999; the couple later divorced in 2001.
