Festivals

The main festivals are an annual 'Rathotsavam' or chariot festival and 'Sasthapreeethi'. Rathotsavam is celebrated each year in Indian summer month of May or second week of Tamil month of Vaikasi. Sasthapreeethi is celebrated during the months of December and January. With the end of chariot festival in Thirunellai, the six month long festival season culminates in Palakkad agraharams which starts with the chariot festival in Kalpathy.

Famous Personalities

The village has been home to many famous personalities, but one among them who is world famous is T.N.Seshan. He was the 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India. The village was also home to many scholars and Priests.
