The Signpost is the student newspaper of Weber State University
Weber State University
Weber State University is a public university located in the city of Ogden in Weber County, Utah, USA. It was founded in 1889 and is a coeducational, publicly supported university offering professional, liberal arts and technical certificates, as well as associate, bachelor's and master's degrees...

. It is published three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

It is funded in part by the mandatory student fees each student is required to pay each semester, and by advertisements for local businesses and events.

The newspaper is run solely by students, and a few full time editors (who are employed by the newspaper and not by the university itself, thus they do not work under the supervision of faculty members).

As in most cases with college run newspapers, faculty members are officially only involved on an advisory basis.

The main job of the faculty members involved in The Signpost is to promote quality, and to minimize any potential risk of libel lawsuits.
