History

The bilingual Prince Arthur Herald was founded by two students at McGill University at the beginning of January 2011. It was launched with a total start-up cost of $150 and is named for the McGill ghetto's principal artery. Fundraising brought in $11,000, enough to pay a web designer and to formally incorporate at the federal level. The publication receives no public money whatsoever.

Recently the Prince Arthur Herald has come under intense scrutiny after publishing an anti-gay-adoption article. This article was syndicated from Mercator.net, and was not written by any of the Herald contributors. It was openly offensive and blatantly poorly written, causing the resignation of 4 members of the editorial board, and over 10 contributors.

Editorial Staff

The Prince Arthur Herald has two teams of editorial staff: one English and one French. Both sections' editors and writers do their job completely voluntarily. According to an interview with the organization's Chief Financial Officer, there are about fifty writers, eight editors and two publishers located at McGill University
