Originally from Northam, Western Australia

, brothers Corey (vocals/harmonica) & Jay Marriott (guitar) joined to form the band with Steven Turnock (bass) & original drummer Jay Watson. The band recorded "Let It Loose" (a home recorded demo EP) & had near immediate success locally. They then became established as one of Perth's best up and coming bands after recording their next demo EP "Money City Blues" which had minor local & national radio airplay & when an offer was rumoured to arise from US country singer Ben Kweller

After Jay (Watson) left the band to play drums for Tame Impala

, the boys took an indefinite hiatus before rejoining with new drummer, Liam Young. With a new line-up, the band were in the studio a mere few months later to record what they consider to be their debut EP 'Ragdoll'.

2009 was a pivotal year for The Novocaines. The band was unearthed by radio station Triple J

 after releasing the track Cup Of Coffee as a vinyl single through Ampersonic Music/MGM. Soon after, they released the Ragdoll EP to a sold out crowd at Amplifier Bar, Perth’s quintessential indie venue, selling through the initial pressings of the CD within weeks. The band then signed to Premier Artists, one of Australia’s largest booking agents.

. Interest in the band buzzed into overdrive and by the time the boys hit Los Angeles the cream of American A&R reps were turning up to see the band perform their raucous live set.

Firmly now on the radar of several major American labels including Interscope, American Records, Atlantic and EMI/Capitol and with a couple of big league producers involved, The Novocaines are on the cusp of international success.

With new material overflowing and more releases needed fast, the band forged ahead along the independent route and in May 2011 work began on The Novocaines official debut album. Tracking with Alan Brey has begun at Ampersonic Studio’s in Leederville, the heart of Perth’s inner city musical hub. The album, as yet untitled, is due for release in late 2011. The first single from the album, “Summer Waiting” is being mixed by Nick Terry at Malabar Studios in Norway.
