 area. It competes with The Ohio Jewish Chronicle, a weekly newspaper that has been serving the Columbus Jewish community since 1922. The paper was founded by Daniel Newman in 2003 and was sold to Blue Streak Strategies LLC January 2009. The New Standard's web site consists of content from its publication and some web exclusive material. In 2005 the paper received a Simon Rockower Award

 to Noam Shpancer for excellence in Commentary writing from the American Jewish Press Association. In 2007 the paper received two Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Feature Writing. First place for Bill Cohen's “The Jewish Comfort Zone” and Third place for “Preparing the Dead: Burial Societies Provide Vital Service for Fellow Jews” by Jennifer Hambrick. Its readership is 30,000 and is audited by the CVC.
