The NJ Underground is an independently owned and operated music blog that focuses on music related news, live events and local artists and musicians in the tri-state area. Only having been around since the Summer of 2009, the website has garnered a loyal music fanbase that visit the website on a daily basis. In addition, with 1,600+ posts and coverage of 275+ concerts, the website receives a significant amount of traffic from search related queries. Within the last year, the website has averaged approximately 5 new posts per day and a concert being covered and reviewed on average, every other day.

The NJ Underground has been able to differentiate itself from many of the other music-focused blogs. In addition to the typical music- related blog post, The NJ Underground has conducted countless interviews with bands , show promoters, and music industry person- nel. The bands interviewed are strategically chosen and are often picked up by larger websites.

The 40+ contributors of The NJ Underground scour the concert and event listings for each of the New Jersey and New York City venues to see which bands are coming to town, and of that mix, which are deserving of coverage. Artists are selected and individual campaigns are launched - the coverage begins with an announcements regarding any major news and tour dates for the particular bans, an interview will often follow leading up to the concert and coverage of the live performance, which ends the campaign. The strategic mix of wording and mixed media, with extensive planning and help from contributors, allows for a steady increase in website hits.

The NJ Underground has covered the following major events: All Points West, Alternative Press events, Bamboozle, CMJ, HARD NYC, SXSW, and many other local an tri-state music festivals.
