Fictional character biography

The Moth is a circus performer named Jack Mahoney. Mahoney developed the Moth costume for his high-wire act, and also uses it catch criminals who have bounties out on them.

During the four-issue series "The Moth," the Moth encounters a biker gang, whose leader has a bounty on his head. The Moth catches and turns him in. He also encounters a supernatural lion-man who goes on a killing spree. The victims of the killing spree included the Moth's mentor, Victor, who was also ringmaster of the circus where the Moth performed, and a member of the biker gang. The Moth inherits the circus and enlists the help of the biker gang he clashed with earlier to help him track down the creature and extract revenge.

The next story, in which the Moth turns rival mob families against each other in order to collect bounties on the heads of both groups, appears to be an homage to the film Yojimbo or the story "Red Harvest" by Dashiell Hammett (which predates "Yojimbo").
