The memorial statue to the soldiers who fought in the Spanish American War and the Philippine–American War is located between the historic Crescent Mill

. The base of the statue was constructed from part of the former Fall River Customhouse and Post Office which was demolished in the early 1930s.

The statue was nominated by local and state historical commissions but denied placement on the National Register of Historic Places

Some of the other "Hikers" are located in Woburn, MA, Cambridge, MA, Wakefield, MA, Everett, MA, Malden, MA, Ypsilanti, Michigan, on the grounds of the Michigan State Capital in Lansing, Michigan and at Arlington National Cemetery.
