The Buckeye Politicians were a seventies funk & rock band that released some recordings in the 1970s

History

The group had it's origins in the very early 1970s. It was formed by three brothers who at some stage called themselves The Vondors. They recorded a single for Bill Moss' Holiday records. Side A was a vocal and the B side was an instrumental. Through Moss' connections with Bell Records, there were two more singles released on the Bell label. They changed therir name to The Soul Partners and they scored a local hit.

Still known as The Soul Partners they then decided on a name change. In 1970 they were known as The Buckeye Politcians. Still in 1970 they released a single as the Buckeye Politcians and it was released on Sceptor Records.

Later the band would fly over the England and while there, they recorded under the direction of Alan Parsons

and a single resulted. An album worth of material from the Alan Parsons sessions was recorded. No resulting ablum was ever released because the tapes were lost by the airline as they were on their way back to the USA.

They released a single and an album on Utopia records. There were a few more singles released in the 1980s.

There was a reunion in 2006 and they recorded a CD called "Here I Am".

Original member Larry "LA" Almon passed away in 2008.
