. He retired from boxing in 2002 after a career-ending shoulder injury.
He served the United States Marine Corps
from 1975–1979 and at the age of twenty-four, he became the owner of McClash Heating & Cooling, continuing the business from 1982-2002. Active in community government and affairs, McClash also has served his community as chair or in another official position of Manatee County Port Authority

Overview
Founded to become more than an on-line newspaper, the primary goal and distinctive characteristic of The Bradenton Times is being a community voice, by providing readers the opportunity to comment on news articles, submit local photographs, create their own news articles, participate in polls, and provide article-related forums directly on the site. Readership among residents of Sarasota county has extended the newspaper's scope as well. The publication has begun to register more than 100,000 unique views a month and its readership continues to grow.Editor
