. Thakandhoo population is around 1000. Standard of living is high when compare to the other islands in the atoll. Majority of the Thakany ares living in capital Male' for the purpose of education and employment. Thakany means those who are born in Thakandhoo.

. The Malabars decapitated the body and took the head to Male' to ceremonially present to the regent Andiri Andirin. Maldivians later stole the head from the garrison and buried it in the island of Funadhoo. The body was later buried in Thakandhoo.
