, and is surrounded by a coral reef.

Tavarua is a formerly private surf resort, but as of July 1st, 2010 it has been opened up to the general public for the enjoyment of all.
Under the new Regulation of Surfing Areas Decree — reported by Radio Fiji on Thursday — all title to surf spot access in the islands will be cancelled. This would include premier surf zones such as Restaurants and Cloudbreak, long held as an exclusive by the Tavarua Island surf resort.

The spots would become in effect free to anyone with a boat to get to them.

There are three main breaks that are all available to guests staying at the all inclusive island resort, Cloudbreak, Restaurants, and Tavarua Rights which are all world class waves. Cloudbreak being the most famous of the waves, is a thundering left a mile out off the island that breaks over a razor sharp coral reef. Restaurants is one of the most perfect waves in the world that breaks in the exact spot every time, they call it the machine. The island hosts annual professional surfing competitions that can be viewed via webcast.

Neighboring Tavarua is another small island with a surf resort on it which is called Namotu with reefs that surround with more quality surf to offer.

The resort in itself is beautiful, you stay in small little cabanas that are lined up right along the beach. There is a main deck and pool area which also has a dinning area and bar right on the sand.
In addition to the resort, other surf companies on Fiji provide surf trips to Tavarua.
