. They differed in many ways to earlier Tatra products, most notably that the vehicle was controlled by a hand lever rather than a foot pedal. Between 1978 and 1984, 322 vehicles were supplied to Budapest and, as of October, 2010, still remain in active service there. From 2002 and 2004 eighty T5C5 were extensively modified and now have a modern IGBT transistor equipment. The modernisation of the vehicles also included a complete overhaul of the interior. The type of the modernised trams is Tatra T5C5K.
