 in 1982 and was named El Nakb Airport, with initially twice weekly flights being operated between it and Cairo using Fokker F-27 Friendships of Air Sinai, and then later Airbus aircraft of Egyptair, along with, at times, charter flights from the UK, Switzerland and elsewhere. A new terminal building and night lighting were added towards the end of the 90s and the airport was then renamed Taba International Airport in November 2000.

The original runway now known as 04R has been closed for a number of years and the runway in use is 04L.

Airlines and destinations

Flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport also occasionally operate on an unscheduled charter basis.
