The Franchise was formed in 2010 as an original franchise in the 2010-11 season of the Continental Junior Hockey League

On October 4, 2010, two weeks before the CJHL's expected start date, the league announced the Sampede and two other teams would not participate during the 2010-11 season, instead being added as expansion teams for the 2011-12 season.

This Franchise dropped from the CJHL before the season started. The Stampede will begin play in 2011 in the Mid Atlantic Division of IJHL's Super Elite League. The team will be playing out of the GBIA Arena in Baldwinsville, NY. The Stampede logo is of Stampedeing Horses as shown on the syarcuse stampede web site.
