Sur Plaza Boulevard is a shopping center located about an hour south of Lima on Km 97.5 of the Panamericana Sur. It is home to many different shops, restaurants, clubs and other for people to spend their free time when at the beach. It is a local get together and a new site for tourists as it is a growing market in today's world.

Who They Are/History

Sur Plaza Boulevard is a shopping center that is characterized in offering a different option to the public who come yearly to Asia and visitors in general. They have the best places that you find in Lima in Asia so that people can make the best out of their summers, including restaurants, bars, clubs, and shops. They (Sur Plaza Boulevard) have recently completed 12 years since their inaugural day view and expect to receive 30% more visits than last year which was near to (2,000,000 visits). Moreover, they have 200 locations with the top brands of the national and international market. A goal they set for themselves is be the best option for entertainment during the summer and a place to relax during the winter surprising the public with new things each year.

Shopping

Sur Plaza Boulevard offers numerous stores for shopping that cater to all different tastes. Most of the stores found in the Boulevard are big brand names found in the major shopping malls in Lima. With over 200 shops the Boulevard offers different things from home goods to high fashion. Moreover, different beauty supply stores, hairdressers and supermarkets are present for grocery shopping.

Restaurants

Like in many shopping malls, food is of the essence and, differently from most shopping malls, Sur Plaza Boulevard, does not have a food court but restaurants. These restaurants are located all over the Boulevard allowing the public to look around rather than focus on one specific place where all the food is. There is a great variety between all these restaurants, including Pizzerias, Fast Food, Seafood, Poultry & Meat, Japanese and Oriental, among others. Most of these restaurants close after the summer period, but some remain open throughout the whole year.

Kiosks/Advertisement/Plazas

Advertisement is a big concept, as it is in all shopping centers; all the biggest companies in Peru have some sort of advertisement in the mall. There are different types of advertisement ranging from Kiosks, Plazas, Visual Images and Walkway’s. Most of the advertisements are for members exclusively, making it a competition between companies to who can come up with the best “advertisement attraction.” Moreover, it gives the Sur Plaza Boulevard an image of an important mall as there are no real areas that are not commercialized and just abandoned. This has also helped the evolution of the mall, due to the amount of companies who are interested in setting up their own advertisement in the mall.

Events/Cultural Center

The Rimac Cultural Center was inaugurated in January 2007 and has become one of the biggest attractions in Asia as many concerts, art expositions and theatrical plays take place in this building. Other than the cultural center, concerts and different events are held in an area that is mostly used as a parking lot but can be quickly modified into a stage or other. Some events that have taken place include the Davis Cup matches of Peru’s National Tennis Team as well as concerts by famous DJ’s such as Armin van Buuren. Discotecas(Clubs)

After shopping, the day does not end. Visitors can spend the night at Sur Plaza Boulevard’s clubs. Clubs range from all ages from teens to older adults. Some clubs have an entry charge at the door while others are free of charge depending on the time one arrives. Inside the clubs there are bars, dance floors and a VIP section for those who pay a little more than the entry charge.

Karts (Go-Karts)

The latest edition to Sur Plaza Boulevard is the Kartodromo Racing Dakart. It is the first professional kart track in Peru. The Kartodromo Racing Dakart covers 20 thousand square meters. There is an initiation track for the younger kids, competition for the adults and a Grand Prix that combines them both. Racers are protected by guards and are required to wear a seat belt, helmet and closed toe shoes.

Must Haves (Banks, Hotels, Hospitals)

The Boulevard also offers different services for both locals and tourists. For a comfortable stay, there are numerous hotels that have recently been built and located to a side of the Boulevard away from all the clubs. There are also different banks and pharmacies if one need to obtain money or medicine. There is also a transportation system with a Taxi company and other local vans called "Aprills" taking visitors back to their respective beaches. Communication is also present as there are multiple public phones and telephone companies if one needed to make a call. There is also a hospital for any emergencies that were to occur.
