through his then-girlfriend. Although he appeared on some early demo tapes for Placebo, he wasn't able to join the band at first due to prior commitments to Breed. Placebo then earned their record deal with replacement drummer Robert Schultzberg
. Later, as Breed broke up, Schultzberg was departing from Placebo so Hewitt accepted the invitation to join Placebo permanently.
On 1 October 2007, it was announced via the official Placebo website that Steve Hewitt had parted company with Placebo due to personal and musical differences.
His new band is called Love Amongst Ruin
and the band's debut album of the same name
was released on 13 September 2010, preceded by the single So Sad (Fade)
